A split EP between two stalwarts of Beijing's punk scene: RAVAGES and PizzaFace. Against a backdrop of closing venues and Covid lockdowns and restrictions, these two ragged outfits stuck to their guns and blasted both barrels of genre-melting punk at sweaty audiences in underground clubs across China's capital. Together they capture a little record of Beijing underground music in uncertain times, here for your listening pleasure.
RAVAGES
Fuzz trash scoundrels RAVAGES – featuring members of Boss Cuts, SHA!, Poetry x Music and the Slow Blade – were founded in 2020 in Beijing, China. Drawing upon garage and psych sounds of the 1960s, RAVAGES released their debut album in 2021, a “psychedelic roller coaster ride coated in layers of fuzz, driving organ riffs and mischievous fun” (Live China Music). The album is available on Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp and all Chinese music platforms.
PizzaFace
PizzaFace is a Beijing based four-piece band that inject waltz-like Dream-pop into punk music. It's four people who split a million ideas out of control and merge them into one.The band was formed in April 2018 and operates on a DIY ethos, having performed more than 180 times ,including Strawberry Music Festival, MIDI Music Festival, Sound of Influence City Music Festival, Trojan Music Festival ,won the LPA Independent Music 2019-2021 Most Promising Punk Band Award, and eon the 2021 SCHOOL Live Band of the Year Award.
So far PizzaFace has cooperated with brands including VANS, COACH, NIKE, CONVERSE, Shanghai Volkswagen, and Genki Forest.
