Unicat Attack! is a series of electronic music compilations parties by Daftpop and Musicdish China which combine live performances and DJ sets themed around unicorn cats with each event and tape adorned with a different version of the unicat created by a guest artist. The aim of Unicat Attack! is to create fun, playful events and releases which introduce new and interesting types of electronic music to different audiences and gives artists an opportunity to reach new audiences.
The second releases features original music by three China based artists: Gaku, Last Boss,and Strawberry Papa. The cassettes that accompany are specially themed around the story of Guy Fawkes to tie in with the release show which was held on November 5,2021. Just like Vol.1 there is a limited number of these left and once if you buy the cassette you receive a free gift of another cassette from the Daftpop catalog! Gaku
Gaku曾在90年代末活跃在北京朋克圈。1998年旅居日本，2001年在日本跟随他的大学教授参加了当时最著名的地下电子音乐节“武尊祭”，从此开始痴迷于地下电子音乐文化。大学期间开始招揽DJ主办电音活动。之后与日本女键盘手Chia组建了Electronic Pop的二人乐队“Vital Staff”，2007年乐队签约意大利品牌“The Family Records”，发行了2张EP。2009年在日本组建了另一只Electro Rock乐队“19Mirrors”，曾活跃在东京各个知名的Livehouse，也是东京著名Livehouse“三軒茶屋HEAVEN'S DOOR”的驻场乐队。2012年开始作为DJ开始在日本独立发展，之后在东京地下电子文化聚集地之一的夜店“高円寺CAVE”担任驻场DJ。现作为电音trackmaker/producer开展演出活动。他的音乐风格跨度很大，融合了Deep House、Techhouse、Progressive House、Techno以及New wave等众多要素，但他更重视的是电音能否给人带来情感上的高级接触。在他相对低沉的音色中，有时却能带给人一种高昂感，有时也会给人带来一种面对人生的情感触动。
Gaku was active in the Beijing punk scene in the late 1990s before moving to Tokyo in 1998. He became obsessed with electronic music culture after attending the famous underground electronic music festival "Hotaka Festival" in 2001 and throughtout his university days, Gaku organised several electronic music events. In 2004, he formed the electronic pop duo "Vital Staff" with Japanese female keyboard player Chia; the band was signed to the Italian label "The Family Records" and released two EPs. In 2009, Gaku formed another electro rock band "19Mirrors", who performed in some of Tokyo's top live music venues and was also the resident band of "Sangenjaya HEAVEN'S DOOR". In 2012, he started to develop independently as a DJ, working as a resident DJ at the nightclub "Koenji CAVE", one of Tokyo's underground electronic culture spots. He returned to Beijing permanently and now performs as an electronic trackmaker/producer. His music style combines many elements such as deep house, techhouse, progressive house, techno and new wave. During his sets, he focuses on evoking a wide ranging emotional experience among the audience through deep, pure sounds that elevate people's feelings and arouse a touching and reflective response.

Lastboss

Lastboss is a multi-genre electronic musician and producer from Manchester, UK. Having been active in London, Tokyo and Beijing, Lastboss is currently based in Zhuhai, China. His extensive genre-bending catalogue dates back to the early 2000’s and can be found on most digital platforms.Lastboss engages in live performance, remixing, producing, workshops, exhibitions and DJ-ing. His current interests include creating soundtracks for visuals through live improvisation. He has appeared with DJ Scud (Planet Mu), Maruosa (Rendarec), The Teknoist (Planet Mu), Ove-naxx (AD ADD AT) I , Pedro Zaz(United VJ’s) and Robedoor (Hands in the dark) amongst others. Strawberry Papa
StrawberryPapa 是一位来自云南生活在北京的年轻Beatmaker，北京友好而开放的气氛推动他对好的能量的追寻。他的音乐是一个包含云南放松摇摆和北京城市冷峻的融合体，Beats / Grooves / Jazz / Lo-Fi这些关键词和氛围都可以在他的作品中找到，他喜欢将老唱片中带有独特质感的动人片段赋予Hip-Hop的节奏律动重新呈现，希望带给都市人惬意而温暖的听觉体验。2019年5月，草莓爸爸在Eating Music发布了首张正式发行《Underwater/Fantasy》。

He enjoys giving old records a new life by adding Hip-Hop's beats and blends them together with vinyl's unique sound. Beats, Grooves, Jazz and Lo-Fi are the keywords that you can be expecting to find in his music. In May 2019, he released his debut album "Underwater/Fantasy" in Eating Music.
