Keeping with tradition every Unicat also doubles as a release show for one of our compilations which is released on cassette and digitally, with the first 50 guests getting a cassette for free. Volume 7 offers up a mix of sounds, including a nifty little lofi jam by BEAT NEAG which you can study to on a rainy day (if that’s your thing) or just bounce around to; an exclusive cut from a dark techno collaboration between Unicat alumni Looooooongish Cat and Blackhoodie; and a first for a Unicat release; a track from Philippines based chip tune duo MNTXX from back in the heady days of the 2000s. The surrealist artwork used for this release and the accompanying promo material was designed by Beijing based artist, painter designer, and tattoo artist Qianyao aka. Achlys. The piece used for this Unicat is in fact an adaptation of one of the paintings from her series ‘I don’t have two bedrooms and one cat’, a commentary on middle class lifestyles and romance in the big cities. It’s easily the most surreal Unicat yet and we can’t get enough of it.
